With Easter coming up this weekend this project is in honor of the resurrection of our Lord! I think it is important that children learn and understand the TRUE meaning of Easter not just bunnies and eggs. This is a great craft to get the conversation going about how Easter came about.
Supplies:
- Black construction paper
- Multi-colored tissue paper ( cut into 1 inch square pieces)
- Scissors
- Pencil
Directions:
1. Draw the shape of a cross on the black constuction paper
2. Cut out the cross using scissors
3. Glue pieces of crumpled up tissue paper onto cross. If you want a “cleaner” look use the end of a pencil (eraser side) to form and set onto paper.
4. Let dry, hang for all to see!

I love these tissue paper mosaics. They were always my favorite crafts when I was in elementary school. One year we did one where we made tissue paper cherry blossoms on construction paper branches. So cute.
And I love the idea of using a more time-consuming project to get a conversation going about the real meaning of Easter.
