Being the craft girl that I am, I like to unique finds and create them into something personal and chic for my home or project! A neat place I like to go to get great craft materials is SCRAP Action in Portland! SCRAP also know as (School & Community Reuse Action Project) is a non-profit organization in Portland that provides affordable materials to the community at a hole in the wall all which were donated by locals!First they collect clean, reusable creative materials from businesses and individuals and then they combine all offerings in a garage/warehouse style setting that is encouraged and suitable for art, craft and school use! And did I mention CHEAP? Very Cheap.
Here are some of the things I have gotten at SCRAP…
- a scoop full of rubber bands out of a bulk barrel for 5 cents
- a handful of colorful bottle caps for 25 cents
- a stack of white card stock for 50 cents
- jar full of buttons for 25 cents
- clear glass test tubes for 25 cents
- a plastic letter G
- black clock arms
- vintage monopoly game with orginal silver playing pieces for 1.00
- a stack of tiles for 1.00 a pound
And tons more random cute finds that I surely have found a home for! Most of my trips to SCRAP I come home with a bag full of “stuff” for less than $5.00!

What a great idea !!!! When my daughter finished dance team we had a whole plastic bin FULL of stuff like this. You name it was in there, after 4 years of “secret pal” gifts, Smile, and sniff, still miss dance, mostly the friends.
So I donated the bin to a gal at work for her church little ones. She said they loved going through and seeing so many things to create. Love you to pieces sam. Mama Bird
