Foundations is the base of an everyday finished look face. There are so many choices and colors, it can be confusing how to find which foundations works best for your skin and how to find the right shade.
Not everyone has the same needs such as full coverage, or oil control, lightweight for working out, or just something to slap on to even out skin tone.
Also about is based on personal preference.

Coverage:
The first thing you want to consider when looking for a is COVERAGE.
How much of the skin you want to show through?
SHEER/TINTED: very subtle(barely there), illuminating, so natural features like freckles can still show through.
MEDIUM: quite natural, but at the same time can cover up any blemishes or imperfections that you want to cover up.
FULL: will completely cover anything you want to cover and conceal.
Finishes:
MATTE: flat even look. There is no shimmer, shine, dewiness,
SEMI MATTE: similar to matte, but there might be a little of soft dewiness.
SATIN: definite dewy look, which leaves a “glow” but may look too “oily” for some.
NATURAL: this is the balance between shine and matte, great for everyday
Types:
Liquid: absorb in the skin, provides most true color and consistency,
Powder: absorb excess oil, most commonly used over top of a liquid to “set/seal” and give a matte finish. Powder can be used to touch up imperfections through the day and can be carried in your purse easily.
Product Ingredients:
Oil vs. Oil Free
When to choose Oil Free : Choose an oil free (absolutely no oils in the formula) if you are prone to breakouts and tend to have an oily sheen as the day goes on. If you can find a you like that is oil free, this is best because typically there is no need to put extra oils on your face. This can lead to breakouts and skin irritations.
For Your Skin Type:
Dry: look for semi-matte, dewy, or satin finish foundations. This will help put back some oils onto the skin and give a fresh finish.
Oily: look for matte or semi-matte finish foundations that are oil free. Matte will help create an even canvas and minimize shine.
Normal: look for matte, semi-matte, or slightly dewy foundations. If your skin is normal you can choose pretty much any and it will work with you.
Combination: (both dry & oily)- usually those who are combination skin tend to be more on the oily side, but are dry in some areas. Look for matte or semi-matte finish foundations that are oil free. Matte will help create an even canvas and minimize shine.
For Your Problem Areas:
Acne and Imperfections: look for medium to full coverage foundations. Full coverage will be, naturally, a bit heavier in feel, but these days, even full coverage doesn’t have to feel like a mask with the right formula.
Mature Skin and Wrinkles: look for something that is medium to full coverage and is silicone based. Silicone will help temporary fill in wrinkles for a smoother even look. Dont choose a that has shimmer or glitter, this will highlight and accentuate uneven lines and wrinkles.Look for additives such as moisturizers and antioxidants in liquid foundations.
Near to Perfect Skin: dont need to cover any imperfections, look for sheer or light coverage foundations. This would also include tinted moisturizer, often the sheerest of options.
