Feel overwhelmed by wearing a RED lipstick? Anyone can pull off a perfect sexy red lip by just picking the right color for them and playing up the rest of the makeup to pull everything together.
Choosing A Color
First pick the right color of RED for you! There are shades of red lipstick out there that are specifically designed to compliment every skin tone. It’s simply a matter of finding ones that are right for you.
Pale Fair skinned women should gravitate toward reds with “COOL” blue undertones.
Medium to dark skinned women are considered “WARM” can get away with deeper reds that have brown or tawny bases. In other words, warmer reds.
Choosing A Formula
Matte (flat with no shine)
Creme (creamy moisturizing)
Lustre (sheer sometimes glossy)
There are lots more finishes but these are the most common.
Choosing A Lip liner is a must when wearing RED lipstick. This is needed to help stop the lipstick bleeding which is a common occurance with reds, and also because pencils are precise and define the perfect shape of you lips.
Application
Once you’ve found the perfect RED lipstick, pair it with subtle face makeup. Go light on your blush and bronzer, to avoid looking like a clown. Also, avoid heavy glitter/shimmer eye shadows. When I wear red lipstick, I like to wear a nude eye shadow with liquid black liner and mascara. Allow your lips to be the part of your face that is making the biggest statement.
Application Steps:
-Line lips with lip liner and fill in the full lip with the lip liner pencil
- Apply the lipstick with a brush or simply dab it on as a stick. Any excess color should be absorbed on a tissue paper by holding it between your lips folded inwards.
- Apply Gloss if needed
