FALL is my favorite season for many reasons, besides the Pumpkin Spice Latte, and cozy couch lounging and Ugg boot wearing… I love to feel comfortable in my fall fasion. In Oregon our weather is somewhat mild of a chill with the daily arrival of rain which allows us to layer and assorize in a unique and polished way. Layering has always been popular for fall just by adding a cardigan and boots to leftover things in the closet you have a new outfit that feels different and chic.

Below are some trends I found online that are becoming popular and are now filling the stores. I could wear deep plum purples, slate grays, vintage mustard yellow, and suede brown.

Some of my favorites places to shop for fall fashion are…

H&M

Nordstrom

Old Navy

Forever21

Anne Taylor Loft

Anthropoligie

Torrid

Here is a FALL outfit I found on , There are lots of ideas if you are in need of inspiration or a little oomph your style.

Pancake Fun at Slappy Cakes PDX

In a creative mood for breakfast? Get together with a group of friends and go to Slappy Cakes in Portland! Many of my friends have gone so I have seen on their many Facebook “check-ins” to this place.

Where?
Slappy Cakes
4246 SE Belmont, Portland Oregon, 97215
http://www.slappycakes.com

Slappy Cakes is my new favorite breakfast place to get a full tummy to start to my day. This place makes Denny’s and Village Inn look way overrated.
What makes Slappy Cakes so special and unique is they have hot griddles mounted into each table where you are able to cook up your own pancake mastery! You are able to choose your batter (buttermilk, peanut butter, buckwheat, or even zucchini) Pick your toppings..I chose bacon, sausage, and cheddar cheese, they have sweet toppings too like chocolate chips and fresh fruit. I vouched an extra few bucks to try the 100% maple syrup! When you go..you GO BIG or go home.
The pancake batter comes to your table in the vessel of a squirt bottle for easy pouring and also aids in creating designs. I first created a heart, then moved on to a Mickey Mouse face, and the letter “S” for my name! The only tricky part is the flipping…
The temperate of the griddle was already preset and somewhat at a low temperature because it took 5ish minutes to cook each pancake. If you feel like a dummy in the kitchen, this place makes it pretty easy to make a chef out of everyone! I can see this place is a HUGE hit with the kids. They also had yummy cocktails with a twist of the basic Bloody Mary and Ginger Mint Mimosa. They also had a full breakfast menu if you didnt feel like cooking. Jeff got the “Truck Stop” which was eggs, bacon, potatoes, sourdough toast, and a side of biscuits & sausage gravy!
I definatley will be back!

Here are some pictures I took during my tasteful excursion including their menu!

Oregon Coast Lincoln City

Labor Day is the unofficial end to summer where families like to get away and catch some sun rays before its too late. In Oregon our summer didn’t show up until August (I know surprise surprise) but us Oregonians are lucky enough to live close to the coast and a day at the beach is peaceful in Oregon.

I had to work over Labor Day so post Labor Day when after all the crowds and the kids are back to school, the boyfriend and i took our dog Finley to the Oregon coast for a family getaway.

There are many popular beachy towns in Oregon such as Seaside, Astoria, and Tillamook, but we went a little more south to another popular beach town of Lincoln City. Lincoln city is known for their Outlet Mall known as “Tanger” outlets. It always fun spending a few hours browsing in and out of shops and finding a good deal or two on popular name brands such as COACH. I have been tempted a few times in that store.

The mornings were foggy and you could not see the ocean from the room. but we lounged around and took our time getting down to the beach which is always nice to not really recognize the time on a vacation. Finley our Miniature Dachshund was curious as always to all that has washed up ashore and smelled like it has seen better days. Finley did not like the water it was too cold. smart puppy he is. we saw many other dogs in and out of the water with their sandy paw but Finley took one look at the chilly salt water and ran behind our heels safely on land. this didn’t bother me because I really wasnt looking forward to giving him a bath when we got back to the hotel room.

Lincoln City is approx a 1.5hr drive from downtown Portland so it made a quick trip but felt like were far away enough from home to feel like we were on a getaway to indulge.

Here are a few photos of our trip…

Happy Birthday To Me @ Aura Nightclub

{ADD YOUR COMMENTS}

Posted in: Portland LocalSeptember 26, 2011

This year I decided I wanted to celebrate my Birthday in a speical way with my closest friends! It had been a while since I had a night out on the town with my girls which made this event all the more needed.

The easiest way to get a hold of people these days is through Facebook. I created an “event” on Facebook which is basically a virtual invitation that people can view and RSVP. This was a great way for me to communicate with my friends on where the location would be, where to park, and who all was coming. The nightclub I chose to enable my presence was Aura Nightclub. This loungy atmosphere was swanky and was a nice change from the other fast paced clubs in downtown China Town. If you are unaware (as I was) to what the word Aura actually means…here it is…  A luminous radiation surrounding a person or object. The theme of the lounge was modern with subtle cool toned lighting. The nightclub offered to put all my friends on the FREE VIP list which was awesome and all the more why people wanted to come because they didn’t have to pay any overpriced cover charge to get in.

Struck of our luck because I chose a Friday night, Aura was offering FREE Champagne, FREE Chocolate Fondue with fruit, and FREE Cotton Candy to all ladies! this is a Friday night promotion they put on to get people in doors. This unique offering was such a fun element to the night that my friends loved and felt extra special. Another great FREE treat that the lounge was offering was cotton candy! It was childlike joy in an upscale environment. Props to Aura.

I had a great time with my friends many who I had not seen for a long time some from Elementary School. Cheers to a great Birthday with my closest lovelies!

Check out some pictures from our fun evening…
