Yummy homemade sugar scrub, which makes a great gift or a personal shower treat for yourself! Full directions and supplies needed to make this delight is below from Elizabeth Anne Designs. Don’t forget to print off the label template (listed as a link below) so you can uniquely display your concoction in chic style.

You will need:

- 25% Vegetable Glycerin (or coconut oil)
- 25% Grapeseed oil (optional – you can use just vegetable glycerin)
- 50% white sugar
- one or two drops of essential oil (I personally love pink grapefruit)
- Glass or plastic container (I bought mine at Walmart, but there’s a similar one HERE)
- ribbon, to decorate

*Mix up all the goodies and voila!

Amanda from Vintage Glam Weddings was also kind enough to post her label, which can be downloaded FREE {here} for 2.5″ x 1.75″ size

I was just wondering when you say “vegetable glycerin” for the sugar scrub recipe, do you mean just vegetable oil like Wesson ?

I’m making these for mothers’ day, but I’m confused about what kind of coconut oil to get. I’ve seen both solid, edible coconut oil and a liquid kind as well. Which works best?

Since the author of this hasn’t responded I can answer some of the questions.

Essential oils can be purchased at health food stores, herbal shops or online.

As for the coconut oil, it turns solid at a very low temp (76-80°F) so depending on the temp at the grocery store will depend on whether it’s liquid or solid, either will work as once it hits your warm skin it will turn liquid Any coconut oil should be edible, I personally use Luanne brand, found in the baking aisle at Wal-Mart. It will last for several years as it has natural antimicrobial properties, and it does NOT need to be refrigerated.

Coconut oil has many uses. You can make your own body butter with it very easily. If it’s liquid, put it in the fridge til it solidifies, if it’s already solid you’re good to go. Place about a cup in a mixing bowl and turn your mixer on high and whip it (like you would egg whites) for about 6-8 minutes. You can even add a few drops of essential oil if you’d like. Pour it into an airtight container and in a few hours it will set up and it’s ready for use. This is what I use all of the time.

As for the label, well the link doesn’t work so create your own. You can buy labels and use any program like MS Paint or Photoshop to create something unique. Hope that helps!

Just curious. Can the coconut oil be substituted with Almond Oil?
